Nigerian Police Defy Orders, Continue Guarding Companies Despite Withdrawal Directive

Despite the President's order to withdraw police personnel from VIP protection duties and redeploy them to core policing functions, officers are still guarding private companies in Abuja, such as those in the Jabi area. The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had disclosed the redeployment of over 11,000 personnel from VIP security duties.

The officers stationed at corporate facilities and security gates have not received instructions to vacate their posts.
