“We Mainstream Gender Into Our Festival” – Kashim

Kashim, the founder and Artistic Director of the Kaduna International Film Festival (KADIFF), recently shared how the festival is working to mainstream gender activities. This year, fifteen female filmmakers submitted their films for possible screening at the festival, with submission fees waived in honor of International Women's Month.

The festival also promotes equal participation for women through panel discussions focused on female filmmakers. Additionally, KADIFF has collaborated with Lipton Yellow Label for a short film competition, where young filmmakers are tasked with creating a 10-minute film centered around the theme of family breakfasts with Lipton tea.

Winners of the competition will receive cash prizes and Lipton brand products. The eighth edition of KADIFF, themed "Film for Social Change," is scheduled to take place from August 25 to 30, 2025 at Silverbird Galleria and Alliance Francais in Kaduna.
