FG Advocates for Support of African Entrepreneurs in Lagos

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, called for the creation of an enabling environment for African entrepreneurs to achieve business success akin to Aliko Dangote. This statement was made at the conclusion of the 2026 Aliko Dangote Foundation Africa Diaspora Leadership Programme Young Global Leaders Convening in Lagos, themed “Building Africa at Scale.” Oyedele praised Dangote as a resilient figure in business, noting the stress he endures while pursuing major investments.

He argued that the government should create favorable policies to encourage private capital investment, innovation, and job creation. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, urged young leaders to focus on gaining decision-making power rather than mere representation.

Prof Benedict Oramah highlighted the Dangote Petroleum Refinery as a model for executing large-scale industrial projects. Other leaders emphasized the importance of building systems for ordinary investors and ensuring policy predictability to attract investments.
