Victor Boniface Out for Season After Knee Surgery

Werder Bremen has confirmed that Victor Boniface will not play again this season following knee surgery. The 25-year-old striker, who joined on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, sustained a knee injury during training in December.

He underwent surgery in January under renowned specialist Christian Fink in Innsbruck, Austria. Although Boniface recently resumed light training, sports director Peter Niemey stated in an interview with German outlet Deichstub that there will be no late-season return for him, effectively ending any lingering hopes for his comeback to boost Bremen's attack.

Boniface's time at Bremen has been marked by injury setbacks, as he managed only 11 Bundesliga appearances, registering two assists without scoring. He also missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to injury and will be unavailable for Bremen's January 2026 league fixture against Borussia Dortmund.

Boniface expressed his emotional struggles regarding the injury on social media, stating, "God knows why this happened.".
