NDC Responds to Court Ruling on Party Registration Status

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a statement asserting that it has not been deregistered following a ruling by Justice Isah Dashen of the Federal High Court in Lokoja, which set aside an earlier judgment from December 2025 that directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the party. This recent ruling arose from an application by the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which claimed ownership of the NDC's logo and colors.

The NDC maintains that the December 2025 judgment allowed them to commence political activities, including conducting congresses and fielding candidates for various elections, including the governorship and presidential elections. The party's legal team has been instructed to challenge the ruling and appeal the court's decision, which they argue does not explicitly order their deregistration.

The NDC criticized unnamed individuals for attempting to suppress opposition voices ahead of the 2027 general elections.
