Tinubu Signs Electoral Amendment Bill into Law

On Wednesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed the Electoral Amendment Bill into law during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The event was attended by key government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abba, and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila.

In his remarks, Tinubu praised the legislature for its work in amending the electoral act, describing it as a vital step in strengthening Nigeria's democracy. He noted that the amendments are essential for national development and stability.

The new law is expected to address key issues in the nation's electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections. Tinubu expressed optimism that the amendments would further strengthen democratic institutions and promote credible elections across the country.

Key changes include provisions for electronic transmission of results and the completion of the EC8A form, which will serve as the primary basis for collating declared results.
