Seun Kuti Criticizes Comparisons Between Wizkid and Fela as Insult

Seun Kuti, son of the legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, strongly criticized attempts by Wizkid fans to portray the modern-day star as a contemporary version of his late father. During a recent Instagram livestream, Seun cautioned members of Wizkid's fanbase, popularly known as Wizkid FC, against drawing parallels between the two artists.

He expressed that comparing Wizkid to Fela diminishes the latter's legacy and misrepresents the weight of his work. Seun emphasized that Fela's name should not be used to elevate Wizkid or any other artist, as it disrespects the true essence of Fela's rebellious spirit.

He lamented the negative influence of extreme fan behavior in the Nigerian music scene, highlighting how fan rivalries can hinder artist collaborations. Seun urged fans to appreciate artists without constantly comparing them, suggesting that such comparisons reflect a deeper dissatisfaction.
