El-Rufai's Bitterness Towards Ribadu Explained by Osuntokun

Akin Osuntokun, a former director of the Labour Party presidential campaign council, revealed in an interview on Arise Television that former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai harbors bitterness towards National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. This animosity stems from political dynamics and a public opinion survey conducted in 2007 favoring Ribadu over El-Rufai.

Osuntokun noted that El-Rufai had previously accused Ribadu of procuring thallium sulfate, a highly toxic chemical compound, which led to demands for clarification and evidence from Ribadu. The situation escalated as Ribadu challenged El-Rufai to submit evidence regarding the alleged procurement to the Department of State Services for further investigation.

Osuntokun emphasized the historical context of their rivalry, highlighting that El-Rufai, who has been a significant political figure, is seen as a kingmaker in the north, particularly in relation to Bola Tinubu's political ambitions.
