Nigerian Food Prices Drop Significantly Due to Favorable Climate and Improved Harvests

The Nigerian economy is experiencing a drop in food prices as the nine-month food inflation has fallen by 9.2% from January 2025 to September 2025. Factors such as favorable climate conditions and improved agricultural productivity have led to a slower rise in food prices.

Notable decreases include the prices of rice, yam, and tomatoes. Hassan Suleiman, a cashew farmer from Kogi, credits adequate rainfall during the rainy season for bolstering harvests.

This decrease in food prices is a result of better harvests and increased food availability in the market.
