Why one-term pledge is hard to keep – Nasarawa Gov tells Obi

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule challenged 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi's pledge to serve only one term if elected. Governor Sule pointed out the political pressures that make it difficult for a president to fulfill such promises.

While Obi has repeatedly stated his willingness to serve just one term if elected in 2027, Governor Sule warned that the complexity of governance in Nigeria often makes it nearly impossible to solve the country's problems within a single term. Sule cautioned Obi against underestimating the powerful interests and pressures that come with the presidency, suggesting that the reality of the political environment may force him to reconsider his one-term pledge.

Governor Sule's remarks came during an interview on the Prime Time program on Arise Television.
