Saint Janet's Shift to Explicit Songs Boosted Career

Iyun Ajilore, known as Saint Janet, was a Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician who shifted her musical focus from gospel to songs with sexually explicit themes. This change was influenced by her longtime backup singer, Sunkanmi, also known as Suko, who revealed that the transition occurred after initial gospel songs failed to gain public attention.

Despite her hard work and performances at various social events, the lack of audience engagement prompted Saint Janet to experiment with romantic and suggestive themes, drawing inspiration from social interactions. This new style proved successful, leading to increased audience reactions and commercial prospects.

The band received more invitations from clubs and social gatherings, resulting in improved financial returns, particularly through money sprayed during performances. Suko recounted a specific wedding where the bride's family requested the newer style despite concerns about children being present, highlighting the overwhelming positive response from guests and the significant financial gain during this performance.
