Presidency Grants Pardon to Woman Convicted of Killing Husband

The Presidency disclosed that Maryam Sanda, convicted of killing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, was pardoned after spending six years and eight months in custody. The pardon was based on factors like remorse, good conduct, rehabilitation, and education.

The recommendation for the pardon was made by the Presidential Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy, chaired by Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi. Other notable individuals who have received presidential pardons include Mamman Vatsa, Ken Saro Wiwa, and others.

Sanda's family had pleaded for her release, leading to the decision.
