Wike Urges Halt to Impeachment of Fubara After Meeting Tinubu

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, called on the River State House of Assembly to stop the impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara. This appeal followed a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, where Wike expressed optimism that the ongoing political crisis in River State could soon be resolved.

During the meeting, convened by President Tinubu, Wike emphasized the importance of listening to the President, referring to him as the "father of the nation." He stated that it was crucial to ensure peace and progress in River State, highlighting that the President's commitment would help achieve understanding among political factions. Wike noted that the assembly had shown loyalty to him, which was significant in the context of the recent impeachment initiatives against Fubara.

He expressed hope that this would be the last time the President would need to intervene in such matters.
