Wike Supports Qatar Embassy Development in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, assured the government of Qatar of the FCT Administration’s support in addressing concerns over a parcel of land allocated for its embassy in Abuja. This assurance was made during a meeting with Yousef Ahmed Al-Hail, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nigeria.
The ambassador raised concerns regarding a court letter challenging Qatar’s ownership of the 8,000 square metre land. Wike responded by assuring that the FCT Administration would take necessary actions to resolve the issue.
He also expressed interest in fostering closer collaboration between Abuja and Doha, particularly in urban planning and infrastructure development. Wike proposed sending a delegation to Qatar to study its urban planning models.
Additionally, he suggested engaging with Qatar Charity to explore opportunities for development interventions in education, healthcare, housing, and community infrastructure in the FCT. Al-Hail emphasized the importance of strengthening relations and proposed a formal partnership to exchange expertise in city planning and investment.
