Wike's Aide Denies Defection to APC, Affirms Loyalty to PDP Amidst Speculation

Lere Olayinka, a senior special assistant on public communication and social media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, dismissed claims of Nyesom Wike defecting to the APC. Olayinka clarified on a TV program that Wike is still a member of the PDP and has not joined the ruling APC.

The clarification comes amid speculations surrounding Wike's position in the PDP ahead of the party's national convention scheduled for November 15 in Ibadan, Oyo State. Olayinka emphasized that Wike remains committed to the PDP despite disagreements, citing examples like Wike's insistence on Umar Damagum remaining the party's acting national chairman.

The aide also questioned the PDP's handling of nomination forms and highlighted the recent court ruling regarding the party's convention zoning.
