Ulasi Critiques Wike's Support for Tinubu in PDP

Dan Ulasi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has publicly criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for endorsing President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. In an interview on ARISE News, Ulasi stated that Wike's decision to support Tinubu while holding a leadership position within the PDP sends a negative message to party members and supporters.

He remarked that although Wike has the constitutional right to support any candidate, declaring his support for Tinubu prematurely—four months prior to the elections—was inappropriate. Ulasi suggested that Wike could have waited until closer to the election to announce his position and rationale for backing the President.

He expressed concern that Wike's actions could demoralize PDP members who are expected to unite behind the opposition in upcoming elections. This criticism comes amid ongoing discussions regarding Wike's relationship with the Tinubu administration while remaining a significant figure in the opposition party.
