MTN Nigeria Celebrates Media Innovators at MIP Awards

The inaugural MIP Alumni Awards, organized by MTN Nigeria, took place at the MTN Event Centre in Ikoyi, Lagos, celebrating significant contributions to media innovation and social impact across Africa. Johnston Kpilaakaa, a sub-editor at Standard Humangl Media, received a 1 million naira prize for his report on the humanitarian issues faced by displaced communities in Benue State.

Royal Ibeh, head of the tech desk at BusinessDay, was also awarded 1 million naira for his examination of Nigeria's broadband infrastructure. Victoria Wilson, a broadcast journalist and news anchor at Silverbird Television, won the 1.5 million naira Media Innovator of the Year award for her advocacy in mental health.

Chioma Chinyer Chukwuemeka from Sapientia 95.3FM received a 3 million naira prize for her work with the University Multimedia Impact Resource. The event highlighted the growth of the MIP fellowship program, which aims to equip media professionals with essential skills in a digital landscape.
