Nigerian Woman Alleges Husband Abandoned Her After Relocating

Beatric Idebasun, an Edo-born Nigerian woman residing in Canada, claims her husband, Efosa Okoro, abandoned their marriage after relocating to Canada. Their relationship began as a friendship and developed into a statutory marriage on March 23, 2023, in Benin City, Edo State.

Idebasun believed they would build a future together. She worked tirelessly to reunite with Okoro through legitimate immigration channels, but he declined her offers for assistance with travel plans.

Allegedly, Okoro purchased a flight ticket and traveled to Canada without informing Idebasun. Upon his arrival, he made no effort to contact her, leaving her feeling betrayed and emotionally distressed.

Idebasun claims to have suffered significant financial loss while supporting Okoro's relocation plans. She has called on relevant Canadian authorities to review the circumstances surrounding her case.

Additionally, Okoro is reported to have initiated an asylum claim shortly after arriving in Canada, raising concerns about the immigration process.
