Nigerian Workers Benefit from New Tax Laws, Earning More - Oyedele Reveals

Oyedele, chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy Tax Reform Committee, disclosed that Nigerian workers are now earning more due to the implementation of new tax laws. The new tax framework has reduced the tax burden on workers, especially salary earners, with the impact already reflecting in the pay deductions of workers.

Despite reports of reduced pay deductions, workers have received higher salaries in January 2026. Oyedele emphasized the need for correct implementation of the tax reforms to ensure that employees fully benefit while remaining compliant.

The committee is set to host engagement sessions with key stakeholders to address implementation gaps and compliance requirements, focusing on applying the new personal income tax provisions correctly.
