World Bank Confirms Naira's Remarkable Performance Among African Currencies in 2025

The World Bank's latest report reveals that the Naira has emerged as one of the best-performing currencies in Africa in 2025, achieving a 5.07% gain against the US dollar in January. This improvement is credited to Nigeria's implementation of key fiscal and monetary reforms, leading to a strengthening of the currency.

Ghana's Cedi leads as Africa's best-performing currency with a 20% appreciation, followed by the Zambian Kwacha and CFA Franc. The report highlights that several African currencies have shown positive performance, while others have experienced depreciation.

Nigeria's foreign reserves have also crossed the $41 billion mark, enhancing the Central Bank's capacity to defend the Naira and ensure stability.
