Peter Obi Demands Accountability for Missing ₦34.44 Trillion

Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate, has expressed alarm over the World Bank's report indicating that Nigeria has lost approximately ₦34.44 trillion, which represents 41 percent of its federal revenue over the past three years. Obi highlighted that this staggering amount has not been remitted to the federal account, despite the country generating ₦84 trillion in revenue during the same period.

He noted that this figure exceeds the combined ₦34 trillion allocated for capital projects in the 2024 and 2025 appropriation bills. Obi described this situation as a reflection of systemic issues in public financial management, which continue to deprive critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure of necessary funding.

He urged leaders to ensure greater transparency and accountability in revenue management and to redirect public resources towards national development priorities.
