Côte d'Ivoire Beats Curaçao to Reach World Cup Knockouts

Côte d'Ivoire secured their place in the knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup for the first time by defeating Curaçao 2-0. Nicola Pepe played a pivotal role, scoring both goals.

The first goal was the fastest in World Cup history, coming early in the match when Pepe tapped in a low cut-back from Yan Diomande. Despite a slower pace compared to their previous match, the Elephants maintained control throughout the game.

Curaçao, making their FIFA World Cup debut, struggled to create chances, with Tahith Chong and Leandro Bacuna unable to capitalize on opportunities. Pepe scored his second goal in the second half, slotting home after being left unmarked in the box.

This victory allowed Côte d'Ivoire to qualify as runners-up in Group E, and they will face the runner-up from Group D on June 30.
