Norway Defeats Ivory Coast, Advances to World Cup Round 16

In the World Cup match, Norway progressed to the round of 16 by defeating Ivory Coast 2-1. The match took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Antonio Nusa scored the opening goal for Norway in the 39th minute, controlling a pass from Martin Ødegaard and curling a shot into the top corner. Ivory Coast equalized in the second half when Ahmad Diallo, a winger for Manchester United, exchanged passes with Nicolas Pépé and finished coolly into the far corner.

However, Erling Haaland proved to be the match-winner for Norway, scoring the decisive goal after catching the Ivorian defense off guard with a pass from Patrick Berg. This victory marks Norway's first win in a knockout round match in World Cup history.

Haaland has now scored five goals in the 2026 World Cup, and Norway will face Brazil in the next round.
