Rio Ferdinand, a former England defender and Manchester United icon, named Harry Kane as the only world-class player in the England squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup. This statement followed England's 4-2 victory against Croatia, which secured their lead in Group L.

Despite Kane scoring two goals in the first half, Croatia equalized in the second half. England's success was also marked by goals from Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford.

Ferdinand expressed optimism regarding England's performance, suggesting it indicates potential progress in the tournament. He emphasized Kane's status as a world-class player, noting that he is England's all-time leading goalscorer and ranks just behind Alan Shearer in Premier League goals.
