Canadian fans are facing significant frustration regarding ticket prices for the upcoming World Cup, which is being co-hosted by Canada. The cheapest tickets for group stage matches, including a match between Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina, are priced above $1,000, exceeding their face value.

FIFA has reported record demand for tickets, but many fans argue that the variable pricing strategy will exploit them and disadvantage access to matches featuring their national team. Gianni Infantino, FIFA's president, has acknowledged the high demand for tickets, yet the cheapest options remain publicly available.

This pricing issue has raised concerns among economists, particularly as the costs of hosting the tournament have reportedly increased, with estimates indicating that hosting costs in Toronto have risen by $45 million, totaling at least $380 million. Vancouver is experiencing similar cost increases.
