Xi Jinping Advocates for Stronger China-U.S. Ties

On Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, calling for the translation of a new vision for a constructive China-U.S. relationship into action.

Xi highlighted the unprecedented exchange of visits between the two heads of state within less than half a year and noted their ongoing communication to navigate the complexities of their relationship. He reiterated their May agreement to build a constructive relationship characterized by cooperation, moderate competition, and manageable differences.

Xi emphasized the importance of mutual benefit through practical cooperation and the need for both nations to work together in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), advocating for dialogue on its risks and benefits. He expressed hope for a stable economic and trade relationship, stressing that cooperation should be a two-way street, requiring both sides to expand cooperation while addressing existing issues.
