EFCC Witness: Kogi Transactions Complied with CBN Rules

In an Abuja court, Olomotan Egoro, a witness for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), stated that transactions associated with the Kogi State Government did not violate any Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations. The former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, along with co-defendants Umar Shuaibu, Oricha Abdulsalam, and Hudu, are facing 16 counts of breach of trust involving a total of N110,446,470,089.
All defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges. During cross-examination by Bello's counsel, Joseph Daudu, Egoro confirmed that there were no restrictions on the account in question and that the transactions were merely suspicious, requiring further investigation.
The trial judge, Justice Maryann Anenih, adjourned the case until Wednesday for continued cross-examination. Earlier, witness Aminu Jimoh Olanrewaju had confirmed withdrawals from the Kogi State Government House administrative account, but did not provide details on the nature of the transactions.
