Barcelona's Yamal Advocates for Creativity in Ballon d'Or

Yamal, a forward for Barcelona, expressed his belief that the Ballon d'Or should honor players for their creativity, style, and ability to entertain, rather than solely for their goal-scoring records. Speaking to L’Equipe, he reflected on his previous year's voting position behind Ousmane Dembélé and noted that he is again among the leading contenders for the award, which will be announced in London on October 26.

He acknowledged the strong competition this year, including Dembélé, Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid, and Harry Kane of Bayern Munich. Yamal emphasized that the award should celebrate players who bring joy and excitement to the game, citing legends like Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho.

While he scored 24 goals last season, he argued that his playing style and achievements, including winning the World Cup with Spain, should also be considered. Yamal has already secured numerous honors, although the Champions League remains elusive.
