Zidane Set to Become Next Coach of French National Team

Zinedine Zidane is set to take over as the head coach of the French national football team, having reportedly reached a verbal agreement, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Zidane is expected to assume his role following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Current coach Didier Deschamps will remain in his position during the tournament but has confirmed he will step down afterward, allowing the French Football Federation (FFF) to plan a smooth transition to Zidane. Zidane, aged 51, previously left Real Madrid in 2021 and has been linked with several top European club coaching jobs.

He led Real Madrid to three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles from 2016 to 2018 and won multiple domestic and international trophies, including two La Liga titles and two FIFA Club World Cups. The FFF has reportedly begun preliminary plans for Zidane's appointment, which includes staff and long-term strategies to maintain France's position among elite football nations.
