Zimbabwean Football Star Divin Lunga Survives Shooting

Divin Lunga, a 31-year-old Zimbabwean football star who plays for Mamelodi Sundowns and the Zimbabwe National Football Team, survived a gun attack in Johannesburg, South Africa. The incident took place in the inner-city suburb of Hillbrow while Lunga was driving with his younger brother.

According to local reports, an unknown gunman opened fire on their vehicle, apparently mistaking them for undercover police officers. Lunga has been part of the Zimbabwe National Team's squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers and joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2021, contributing to the team's success in winning four domestic league titles and one African Champions League title.

South African police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed that an investigation into the attempted murder is underway, but no arrests have been made, and further details were not provided. Lunga shared a post on social media expressing his faith in God following the incident.
