Team Nigeria Gears Up for Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics

Team Nigeria is prepared to participate in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, which will take place from 31 October to 13 November. This historic event is significant as it is the first Olympic sporting competition hosted on African soil.
Nigeria will be represented by 19 athletes, including 12 women and seven men, competing in athletics, boxing, road cycling, swimming, table tennis, and beach volleyball. The National Sports Commission (NSC) has coordinated the team's preparations, which included a 21-day local camping program featuring medical screenings, anti-doping education, and technical training.
Athletics has the largest representation with nine athletes, followed by swimming with four, and two in table tennis. Competitions in table tennis and beach volleyball will commence on the opening day, while swimming starts on 1 November, and athletics and road cycling are scheduled for 8 to 10 November.
This event provides a platform for young Nigerian athletes to gain international experience and prepare for future competitions.
