ADC Criticizes FG Over Alleged ₦10 Billion Ransom Payment

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a statement on Tuesday condemning the Federal Government for allegedly paying ₦10 billion in ransom for the release of abducted students and staff from St. Mary's Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State.

The ADC argued that the government cannot claim to discourage ransom payments while engaging in such actions, which they believe contradicts the government's public stance on counter-terrorism efforts. The party welcomed the safe return of the abductees but expressed serious concerns regarding the implications of the alleged ransom payment, particularly in relation to financing terrorism and the rule of law.

The ADC emphasized that such actions could undermine the safety of citizens and called for the government to provide a full explanation regarding the ransom payment.
