Chibok Girls Graduate, Signaling Hope for Education

On Saturday, during the 17th graduation ceremony at the American University of Nigeria, twelve Chibok schoolgirls who were abducted by Boko Haram on April 14, 2014, graduated, marking a significant milestone for women's education in Nigeria. Vice President Kashim Shettima attended the event, representing the Federal Government and emphasizing the importance of education for national development.

Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, commended the university for providing a conducive environment for the girls to earn their degrees.

Speaker Stephanie Busari highlighted the role of the Federal Government in sponsoring the education of the Chibok girls, describing their graduation as a symbol of hope for girls' education. Aun Dwayne Frazier, representing the university's mission, noted that education is a powerful tool for healing and transformation.

The event serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by the remaining abducted girls, with 276 initially taken, of which 180 have been released, leaving many still missing.
