Africa's Fastest-Growing Economies: AfDB Insights

Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank Group, stated that 12 of the world's top 20 fastest-growing economies are located in Africa during the inauguration of the 2026 African Economic Outlook at the AfDB annual meeting in Brazzaville. He reported that African economies continue to demonstrate resilience despite global geopolitical tensions and trade uncertainties.

The real gross domestic product (GDP) growth is projected to stabilize at 4.3% for 2026, with an expected rise to 4.5% in 2027. The GDP per capita growth is also improving, anticipated to rise from 0.9% in 2023 to 1.9% in 2025.

Foreign direct investment is expected to rebound significantly in 2024, increasing by 75% to $97 billion. Remittance flows are projected to rise by 14% in 2024, reaching $186 billion.

However, inflation across the continent is expected to decline from 21.8% in 2024 to 13.6% in 2025, with structural challenges and significant financing gaps remaining.
