120 Groups Warn US World Cup Visitors of Risks

The advisory warns that the rise of authoritarianism and increased violence pose serious risks, particularly for marginalized groups.

The coalition, including the American Civil Liberties Union, has called on FIFA to pressure U.S. authorities to guarantee the safety of visitors. FIFA has not yet responded to the advisory but remains committed to promoting and protecting international human rights standards throughout the tournament.

The advisory outlines potential risks such as denial of entry, arrests, travel restrictions, and increased surveillance, particularly affecting citizens from four countries participating in the tournament: Iran, Haiti, Senegal, and Ivory Coast.
