Okonkwo Criticizes Tinubu Over 15% Import Duty on Petrol in Nigeria

Nollywood veteran and politician, Okonkwo, criticized President Bola Tinubu for approving a 15% import duty on petroleum products in Nigeria. Tinubu's approval, conveyed through his private secretary Damilotun Aderemi, was seen as insensitive and burdensome to Nigerians.

Okonkwo expressed concerns that the import duty would discourage imports, reduce competitiveness, and worsen the suffering of Nigerians. The decision aligns with the Federal Inland Revenue Service and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
