President Tinubu Approves 15% Import Duty on Diesel and Petrol in Nigeria

President Tinubu has approved a 15% ad valorem import duty on diesel and petrol in Nigeria, effective from October 21, 2025. The move, conveyed through his private secretary Damilotun Aderemi, is in line with the aim to align import costs with domestic market realities.

This decision, approved by the Federal Inland Revenue Service and the Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, is expected to raise petrol prices by approximately N99.72 per liter.
