Kimi Antonelli Becomes Youngest F1 Pole-Sitter at 19

Kimi Antonelli, a 19-year-old Italian driver, made history by becoming the youngest pole-sitter in Formula 1 at the Chinese Grand Prix held on Saturday. He achieved this remarkable feat with a lap time of 1:32.064, finishing 0.222 seconds ahead of championship leader George Russell.

This accomplishment surpasses the previous record held by Sebastian Vettel, who was 21 when he took pole at the Italian Grand Prix in 2008. Antonelli expressed his happiness about starting from pole for the first time, contributing to a Mercedes front-row lockout alongside Russell.

The qualifying session saw Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc secure the second row, while McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, along with Red Bull's Max Verstappen, rounded out the top positions. Russell faced issues during the session, including a broken front wing and gear problems, which prevented him from setting a faster time.

The race is set for Sunday at the Shanghai International Circuit, covering 56 laps.
