Abia Women Empowerment Program Disburses N100,000 Grants

Priscilla Otti, the wife of Abia State Governor Alex Otti, launched an economic empowerment program aimed at supporting women in the grassroots. The initiative, unveiled in Umuahia, provides financial support of N100,000 to 200 women across various sectors.

Otti emphasized the importance of empowering women, stating that when women earn, they significantly reinvest in their families and communities. The program includes mentorship and business development services to ensure long-term growth and financial independence.

Additionally, Otti announced agricultural market reforms to improve storage facilities and reduce post-harvest losses for women farmers. Jonathan Obiloy from Signature Bank encouraged participants to adopt disciplined financial habits, while Rose Ako highlighted the importance of maintaining credible financial records.

The initiative aligns with the government's commitment to poverty alleviation and creating sustainable opportunities for vulnerable groups. A N4 billion matching fund scheme will also support small and medium enterprises in the state.
