Over 20,000 Nigerian Pilgrims Arrive in Makkah for Hajj

As of May 15, 2026, over 20,000 Nigerian pilgrims have successfully arrived in Makkah for the Hajj. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) is working in collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to enhance the overall experience for pilgrims.

Sheikh Mohammad Ameen Andarqiri, chairman of Mashariq Dhahabiyya, noted improvements in accommodation, transportation, and medical services. NAHCON has successfully transported and accommodated pilgrims from various Nigerian states, including Nasarawa, Kogi, Ogun, Ondo, Benue, Plateau, FCT, Borno, Taraba, Katsina, Niger, Sokoto, and Bauchi.

The commission acknowledged some delays in room allocations but is actively resolving these issues. A significant milestone includes the distribution of 19,000 Nusuk cards to Nigerian pilgrims, which facilitate access to services.

NAHCON's medical team is addressing 500 medical cases, and digital innovations have been deployed for real-time monitoring of pilgrim accommodations, aiming to improve service delivery during the Hajj.
