NAHCON Completes 2026 Hajj Return Flights Successfully

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) announced the completion of the return airlift for the 2026 Hajj, concluding with the final flight that brought pilgrims from Zamfara State back to Nigeria on June 23, 2026. NAHCON's spokesperson, Fatima Sanda Usara, confirmed that this marked the end of the major national exercise involving the successful airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to the holy land.

However, it was disclosed that twelve Nigerian pilgrims are currently receiving treatment for various health conditions in different hospitals in Saudi Arabia, with NAHCON closely monitoring the situation and making arrangements for their safe return to Nigeria once they are discharged. The commission acknowledged the challenges faced during the operation but noted valuable lessons learned that will be applied to improve future Hajj operations.

Preparations for the 2027 Hajj have already commenced, with direct state Hajj agencies and licensed private tour operators beginning preparatory activities in strict compliance with official documentation requirements for the upcoming season.
