Nigerians Spend ₦1.7 Trillion on MTN Data in H1 2026

In the first half of 2026, Nigerians spent about ₦1.7 trillion on data services provided by MTN Nigeria, as reported in the company's unaudited financial results for the period ending June 30, 2026. This figure represents a 38.3% increase from ₦1.229 trillion recorded in the same period of 2025.

Data services remained MTN Nigeria’s largest revenue source, surpassing voice services, which generated ₦897.14 billion. Overall, MTN Nigeria reported total revenue of ₦2.99 trillion, up from ₦2.38 trillion in the corresponding period of 2025.

The company added 4.9 million new subscribers, bringing its total customer base to 92.2 million, with an active data subscriber base of 55.7 million. CEO Karl Toriola stated that the company maintained strong performance despite economic challenges, with operating profit rising by 50.71% to ₦1.26 trillion and profit after tax increasing to ₦694.54 billion.

MTN generated ₁1.55 trillion in operating cash flows during this period.
