NIMASA and Reps Set Performance Targets for 2026 Budget

The Nigerian House of Representatives, through its committee overseeing the Nigerian Maritime Safety Agency (NIMASA), has reached an agreement on performance targets for the agency's 2026 budget proposal. During a session on Tuesday, Khadija Abba Ibrahim, the committee chairman, highlighted the necessity for clear performance targets to improve accountability within NIMASA.

She warned that poor performance would no longer be tolerated. Dayo Mobereola, the Director General of NIMASA, presented the agency's 2026 roadmap, addressing concerns regarding maritime insecurity and operational efficiency.

He noted that NIMASA plans to fully automate its operations and revenue collection system by 2025, following approval from the Federal Executive Council. This initiative aims to enhance revenue enforcement and accountability across the board.
