Ghana Matches Nigeria's World Cup Wins with Panama Victory

Ghana's national football team, the Black Stars, matched Nigeria's record of six wins in FIFA World Cup history by securing a 1-0 victory against Panama in their opening group stage match. The decisive goal was scored by Caleb Yirenkyi in the 95th minute at the stadium in Toronto, Canada.

This victory marks Ghana as the second African country to achieve six wins in the tournament, joining Nigeria, which has accomplished this feat in 21 matches. Following this result, Ghana is now joint top of their group alongside England.

The Black Stars will face their next group stage match on Tuesday. This win also represents Panama's first-ever point in a World Cup match.
