FBI Reports Zero Major Security Incidents at 2026 World Cup

The FBI, led by Director Kash Patel, announced that there were zero major security incidents during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is recognized as the largest sporting event in history. This achievement was attributed to the extensive security operations that spanned the month-long tournament, involving nearly 5,000 personnel deployed across 16 host cities.

Patel credited the success to the collaboration between federal, state, and local partners, emphasizing that this was the largest security deployment ever undertaken by the FBI for an event of this scale. The FBI established multiple coordination centers to facilitate intelligence gathering and sharing throughout the tournament.

Additionally, a counter-drone initiative was implemented, which included the establishment of the first-ever counter-drone school for law enforcement. The FBI seized 700 drones near FIFA airspace during the event.

Patel praised the leadership of President Donald Trump and the efforts of partner agencies for ensuring a safe and secure environment for fans.
