Ivory Coast achieved a significant milestone by winning their first World Cup match in 12 years, defeating Ecuador 1-0 on North American soil. The match saw Ecuador dominate for large portions, hitting the woodwork three times.

However, Diallo, introduced as a substitute by coach Emers Fae, made a decisive impact. He scored the winning goal after a precise cutback from Wilfried Singo, marking Ivory Coast's first World Cup victory and ending Ecuador's 19-match unbeaten run.

Meanwhile, Sweden delivered a dominant performance against Tunisia, winning 5-1. Yasin Ayari, the youngest Swedish player to score in a World Cup since Thoma Brolin in 1990, netted twice, while Mattia Svanberg scored just 16 seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Tunisia's lone goal came from Omar Rekik. This victory represents Sweden's largest World Cup win since 1938.
