Nigerian Youth Mobilized for Malaria Eradication Initiative

On the occasion of the 2026 World Malaria Day, the Federal Ministry of Health in Nigeria, led by Minister Ali Pate, formally approved the Geneith Health Competition (GHC) to engage Nigerian youth in the fight against malaria. The initiative, endorsed by Director of Public Health Godwin Ntadom, aims to mobilize young people as ambassadors in grassroots campaigns for behavior change.

Cletu Iloabanafor, Managing Director of Geneith Health, emphasized the urgency of youth involvement, noting that Nigeria accounts for 27% of global malaria cases and 31% of malaria-related deaths. The competition will promote health literacy among students and provide them with tools to become change agents.

Geneith Pharmaceutical Ltd, represented by Chairman Emmanuel Umenwa, pledged a total investment of 1 billion Naira, which includes 400 million Naira in scholarships and educational materials. The initiative seeks to foster a unified front among Nigerian youth to combat malaria and improve health outcomes across the nation.
