Accord Party Disowns Olawepo-Hashim's Candidacy Claim

The Accord Party has officially disowned the claim made by Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim regarding his emergence as the party's presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. The party's national chairman, Maxwel Mgbuden, stated that no presidential primaries were held, and therefore, no candidates were nominated.

Mgbuden clarified that the announcement from Olawepo-Hashim's media team was not recognized by the party's leadership and described the gathering that purportedly supported Olawepo-Hashim as unauthorized. He emphasized that no presidential aspirants had been screened within the stipulated timeframe for submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Olawepo-Hashim had formally declared his intent to contest for the presidential ticket in a letter dated May 26, 2026, but the deadline for submission had elapsed. Mgbuden also revealed that Olawepo-Hashim had paid a total of N50 million for the nomination process, which has now been canceled, and the party will refund the amount.

Currently, the Accord Party has no valid presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
