Afegbua Predicts Tinubu Victory in 2027 Election

On 15 September 2026, Kassim Afegbua, the Edo State Commissioner for Information, predicted that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election. He stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will secure second place, while Peter Obi, the Labour Party's candidate in the 2023 election, will come in third.

Afegbua made these remarks during an interview on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast, emphasizing that the election is a three-horse race involving Tinubu, Atiku, and Obi, while dismissing the prospects of other candidates, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress. He described them as “rabble rousers” and stated that they do not factor into the potential outcomes of the election.

Afegbua based his predictions on statistics, research, and empirical analysis of the All Progressives Congress (APC), acknowledging the party's weaknesses but asserting that they are being addressed ahead of the election.
