APC Resumes Membership Registration Amid PDP Claims
• Punch Newspapers • Politics
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the resumption of its electronic membership registration process, as stated by Felix Morka, the party's National Public Secretary. This initiative aims to enhance the integrity of the party's membership records and promote internal democracy. Concurrently, a faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), led by Tanimu Turaki, claims to have registered 4,264,675 members as of midnight on March 31, 2026. Ini Ememobong, the faction's spokesman, highlighted that the registration process faced challenges but was successful in mobilizing volunteers across rural and urban areas. The demographic breakdown shows that 40.3% of registered members are aged 18-40, with the South-West region having the highest membership at 953,954. The PDP is currently awaiting a Supreme Court judgment regarding a crisis stemming from a convention held in November 2023.
